St. Mary's Online Academy (SMOA) is a global online learning platform offered by St. Mary's School, a renowned U.S. private preparatory school located in Medford, Oregon.

Our school started in 1865 in southern Oregon, located on the beautiful west coast of the United States of America. St. Mary's School has grown to provide an authentic American elementary, middle, and high school education to students in China, South Korea, Vietnam, and other parts of the world. Our integrated online courses are taught by an experienced American faculty whose skills and commitment are second to none.

We take pride in the program we deliver to your child! Courses are taught during normal school hours in Asian standard time. Online and offline learning networks are available to students.Live classroom and in-person, on-campus instruction is available.Students choose to attend online learning only or a combined offline/onsite learning environment. Students earn credits and receive transcripts and diplomas from St. Mary's School in Oregon.We offer a strong, professional and experienced bilingual tutoring team available to your student.One-to-one academic guidance and family education consultation is offered to all SMOA students and families. Dr. Jenaya Perdue
Dr. J has over 12 years of international and domestic training and experience in pedagogy in the Teacher Education program and Organizational Communication at Murray State University; and Educational Leadership at Western Kentucky University respectively. She successfully held a teaching appointment in the Department of Communication at universities for 7 years, in USA primary public schools for 3 years, and 1 year in public high school in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. Dr. J can communicate (writing, speaking, listening) in Spanish, and she is strongly competent in program evaluation, campus internationalization, applied research, curriculum development, pedagogy, training, equity and diversity initiatives, and presentational practices. She is an ambitious, curious, articulate, and world-traveled doctoral graduate who is passionate about challenging individuals to set goals and achieve their aspirations.

06Course Syllabus

English Language Acquisition I is the beginners course utilizing ESL methods and strategies to advance the comprehension of the English language and its use in written composition using the English language. Class is also open to Sophomores who need a better understanding of the English language before advancing or who failed English & Comp I. This course is centered around understanding, writing actual information in a way that is understood by the reader, and articulating thought and opinion in the written form. In this course, students will gain many of the skills that they will use the rest of their professional lives to communicate in the modern globalized world.
