The aim is to define and explain the key terms and concepts in economics and determine how technology has affected consumers, producers, and markets, as well as economic growth and policy. Topics include how innovation affects labor markets, the value of information, and the role of technological change in the economy.

This course is a survey of basic concepts and principles in micro and macroeconomics and how the economy has been affected by technology. By the completion of this course you will be able to apply the key terms and concepts in economics by analyzing articles on technological developments that affect the economy and think critically about technology and the economy by creating, presenting and discussing advocacy positions on current economic issues. This course will focus on contemporary issues in how innovation affects changes in the economy. Concepts learned in this course can be applied to make better personal and professional economic decisions and to better navigate the economic environment in which we live.

After completing this course, you should be able to:

• define and explain the key terms and concepts in macro and micro economics in order to recognize the impact of technology on the economy and your life

• recognize and debate how technology has changed relationships between consumers and producers; and how technology influences market structure and competition in order to make better decisions from business, employment or consumer perspectives

• recognize and debate how technology affects output growth, employment, price level, trade and policy in order to think critically about and explain the economic environment in which we live
